Join us at the Storm Ranch (directions provided below) for a special night with the Alamo Drafthouse Rolling Roadshow for a presentation of the Cormac McCarthy book turned film All The Pretty Horses!
What: Viewing of All the Pretty Horses

Why: The Storm Ranch is one HCC’s conservation projects, with nearly 6,000 acres of Texas Hill Country land preserved forever by the Storm Family! Come see this gorgeous cattle ranch and meet the landowners.

All The Pretty Horses is a story about two Texas cowboys heading to Mexico in search of work, when they find themselves in trouble with the law after one of them, played by Matt Damon, falls in love with a wealthy rancher's daughter (Penelope Cruz). The movie is rated PG-13.
Viewing the movie is free, but boxed dinner from Central Market can be purchased for $12 per person or you may bring your own picnic meal. Dinner options are as follows (all box dinners include pasta salad, fruit salad and a cookie):
- Turkey and Havarti sandwich on Sunflower Bread
- Ham and Swiss sandwich on Russian Rye Bread
- Fresh Mozzarella, tomato and basil on Central Market Bread
Bring your own folding chairs or blanket and set up your spot beginning at 6:00, the movie will begin at 7:00.
Directions to the ranch from Austin and Dripping Springs:
- Go South on MoPac to 290 West toward Johnson City
- DETAILS: Go south on Loop 1/MoPac past Loop 360/Capital Texas Hwy. You will see signs for 290/71. Follow signs for Hwy 290 to Dripping Springs and Johnson City. Stay on 290 (to left) at the “Y” in Oak Hill. (The “Y” is the intersection with Hwy 71. Stay to the Left on Hwy 290.)
- Proceed West on 290 to Dripping Springs
- In “downtown” Dripping Springs, go south (turn left) on Highway 12 at the first signalized intersection in Dripping Springs. Go south on Highway 12 for 6.5 miles. Storm Ranch Road and Front Gate will be on the right. You’ll also see a stone planter, cattle guard and private road sign. Turn into paved driveway.
Helpful Hint/Landmark – about ½ mile before the gate, RR 12 widens to 4 lanes and then narrows again to two lanes. A few hundred yards after 12 narrows, be looking for the gate on the right.
